When I travel, I love meeting locals, tasting regional food and wine and getting off the beaten track! These food and wine travel guides cover my favourite destinations. I also host small-group food & wine tours for people who’d rather be travellers than tourists.

I adore Italy! Venice, Amalfi, Rome and Florence of course, but also lesser-known Emilia-Romagna, Basilicata and the backroads of Lombardy and Sardinia. Let me take you there!

I’m blessed to have seen Switzerland through the eyes of my Swiss husband, his family and friends. I love its hearty food, crisp white wines, rich history and breathtaking scenery.

Scotland has everything a food lover wants: world-class restaurants in Glasgow & Edinburgh, fabulous west coast seafood, east coast smokies and Highland whisky.

Of course I love Paris, its wine bars, bistros, museums and markets, but I also love exploring the regions from Germanic Alsace to remote Brittany and the unique Basque country.

From the windswept Scottish Highlands to south-west England’s rolling farmland and Wales’ impossibly green valleys, this tiny island offers so much great food, drinks and times.

Wildly beautiful scenery; superb local produce; great beer, music and pubs; and some of the most hospitable people you’d hope to meet – what’s not to love about Ireland?

As much as I love travelling abroad, I adore coming home. Some of the best food, wine and travel experiences I’ve had are right here in our own backyard.

While I’m always drawn back to Europe and love exploring Australia, I’ve also had some wonderful travel experiences in less visited destinations.

From Michelin stars to humble diners, I love a new food experience. I ask the locals where to eat, visit food markets and producers, and peek behind the scenes wherever I am.

Whether it’s a grand Medici palazzo in Florence or a ger on the steppes of Mongolia, the right accommodation creates a sense of place and a truly memorable experience.

Here are some of the best dishes I've ever eaten while travelling. While some may no longer be on the menu, you can assume the relevant restaurants are a good place to get a great meal.

During a lifetime of travelling I've learnt how to travel smarter – from packing advice to the best travel products and services. Here are my expert travel tips for travelling smarter.
To travel like a local, you need to start by eating like a local. To do this, talk to the people you meet – I ask hotel staff, shopkeepers and producers where they love to eat, drink and shop.
I also visit food markets early in the morning and stay in family-run hotels and unique properties with a real sense of place.
My food and wine travel guides share the best of what I’ve found in a lifetime of travel.
I do.
I’m a food writer, restaurant reviewer and cookbook author with decades of experience.
Every restaurant, hotel and producer in my guides is one I’ve experienced myself.
Go behind the scenes: visit markets, meet producers and eat regional dishes where they’re made.
Or let me do the planning – on my all-inclusive, small-group food and wine tours, I take you to meet the chefs, winemakers, cheesemakers and other producers I’ve come to know over many years.
